It protects the work of authors, artists,
composers, and other from being used
without permission.
What is public domain?
Work that is not copyrighted
 May be used without permission
 Should still credit the source

What is Fair Use?
Allowed to use a limited amount for
educational purposes
 Needs to pass these tests:

◦ Does it have a nonprofit educational use?
◦ Are you using only a small portion?
◦ Will your use keep the author from making
money?
