Pluses
•
Matching of MLS System: Design look and feel for
both colors and layout similar to the CAAR MLS
system.
•
….
Minuses
1.
Matching of MLS System: The look and feel for both
colors and layout similar to the CAAR MLS system. I
mentioned this as a plus, but it is also a negative, as
the layout of the CAAR MLS system is a bit old, and
not what I and others would consider to be a “Web
2.0” look and feel. The divisions of the pages and
reports contain little to no rounding of the borders
and a lack of shadows which help to emphasize
highlight various areas.
2.
Firefox & Chrome Errors: The non-Microsoft
browsers Firefox and Google Chrome do not display
as the page elements as intended, the wording tends
to flow outside of the defined divisions making their
readability that much poorer.
3.
High resolution requirement: The resolution
required to display the page with out scrolling is
relatively high in comparison. I needed to set the
screen to 1280 by 1068 to not have to scroll left and
right to view the page. People are used to scrolling
up and down, but find it a pain to have to scroll to
the right to view more of the page. Especially
considering the market breakdown of this system is
to the right side of the page, with the center left
being a box for the user to update their information,
which in my opinion is wasted, and would be better
served in a settings section.
4.
Android mobile issues: The web pages view as
expected when using my android, but the generated
PDF reports do not appear at all. This is a big
negative, as the PDF reports are a large part of this
products end game.

Pluses
1.
Matching Colors: Slightly eases the
transition from one system to the other,
making the transition a bit transparent
from one web site to the other.
2.
“Web 2.0”: The rounded borders, gradient
fills, and shadows make this product more
pleasing to the eye, and attractive to both
end users and the public. The reports carry
a much more “Professional” feel in
comparison to the other product.
3.
Use of images: The use of many and
multiple chart images makes telling a story
easy and obvious. “A picture is worth a
thousand words…”
4.
Fluid Layout: The layout or screen size does
not require a high resolution monitor to
view the elements of the page whereas the
other product is geared for a minimum
screen resolution of 1280 x 1068, this
products screen layout fits well at a lower
resolution and stretches to fill the higher
resolution screens.
Minuses
•
Android mobile issues: Not all of the chart
images appear when tested under the
android mobile device. The PDF reports
also need to be renamed before displaying
on the device, as they were downloaded
with a .bin extension instead of the .PDF
extension.

Options
RE Stats
• The RE Stats product offers
more flexible searching,
with the option to enter in
numeric values, versus hard
coded ranges. This is nice
for someone wishing to
have a more exact
specification of the
statistical comparison.
RBI Intel
•
The RBI Intel product uses hard code
ranges, instead of user entered
numerical values. The value ranges are
more than adequate for what I
understand of our user base. The
product also offers a nice, easy to use
method of adding in comparisons of
one area, or stat point to another. For
example, it is a very easy, and FAST to
add in a comparison of one county to
another. It doesn’t have the fine tuning
that is available in the comparative
system, but these detailed
comparisons, one always has access to
the raw data in the MLS system for
generating or fine tuning a comparison.
Overall MLS Integration
• Both products make use of existing data sharing
agreements.
• RE Stats is accessing CAAR data through the MLS alliance,
which may add a bit of changes later as the MLS alliance is
nearing the end of its life expectance.
• RBI has access through our agreement with MRIS, which
has the advantage of being direct. Should this agreement
cease at some point in the future, they would still have
knowledge of our underlying system, and be able to
continue with a feed directly to them as opposed to have to
redo the time consuming task of analyzing and mapping the
our data onto their own system.
