▪ Depends on the cause of
cellulitis, the severity of
presented symptoms, and the
general state of one’s health.
▪ If well enough to be treated at
home, a seven day antibiotic
prescription will be administered.
▪ If cause of cellulitis was due to
exposure to contaminated water,
a combination of two different
antibiotics will be administered.
▪ If admitted to hospital for
treatment, patient will receive
intravenous antibiotics.

of cellulitis.
▪ Helps patient return to their prior
level of functioning

PURPOSE
The reason for which something is done or created or for which
something exists.
Tuskegee Syphilis Study
▪ When?
▪ 1932 - 1972
▪ What happened?
▪ Government healthcare providers abused
American citizens’ trust and exposed them
to a deadly disease.
▪ Result?
▪ Contraction of disease, spread of disease,
and death
▪ Impact on culture
▪ Lack of trust in healthcare providers
Problems Within the Community
▪ Lack of education
▪ Lack of exposure
▪ No financial means to afford healthcare
▪ Why do minorities who can afford healthcare, more often men, refuse
to seek medical services when needed?
▪ Trend/Problem
“Medical personnel are supposed to help when we need care,
but even once a cure was discovered, they were denied help, and
lied to by their government.” – President Bill Clinton, 1997

Regain trust

Meet the demand for minority PTs (compliance, participation, and quicker turn around rates may be experienced as a
result of the therapist and patient being of the same ethnicity)
