DANSR
Breaking Barriers. Using Best Practices to Do What
Works for All Colorado Families.
What is DANSR?
The U.S. Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency
Prevention’s Statewide System Reform Program supports
DANSR. Colorado’s Department of Human Services and
the Judicial Department were jointly-awarded the funding
for this program in October 2014. Colorado’s goal is to
integrate effective family drug court practices into our
dependency and neglect cases across the state.
OUR MISSION:
Using cross-system collaboration, we
infuse family drug court practices –
practices we have learned work for all
families in dependency court – into all
of Colorado’s dependency cases
statewide.

Department
6 Key Practices
1. Each jurisdiction
will adopt a
protocol to
promptly identify a
family’s treatment
needs.
2. Families are
promptly placed in
accessible,
appropriate
treatment.
3. Families are given access
to a continuum of evidencebased alcohol, drug, and
mental health services.
4. Increase judicial oversight
6. Cross-system
teams coordinate
strategy at the caselevel and participate
in collaborative
training.
5. Encourage institutional datasharing to effectively measure
the achievement of treatment
goals and gauge effectiveness
