2006 country action plan
• PNG did not develop a country action plan
during the 2006 Stop TB meeting in Noumea.
• PNG NTP developed a Country Strategic Plan
to Stop TB (2006-2010) in line with the Global
and Regional Strategic Plans counter funded
by AusAID and Global Fund.
• Currently in the initial phase of
implementation.Activities include recruitment,
training, partner collaboration etc

Achievements:
1. Positions for regional medical officers
2. Global fund grant successfully granted / received
3. Introduction of FDC and overall improvement in TB
program

1. Deficiencies in laboratory services,( no
culture/sensitivity)
2. Inefficiencies in drug (loose drugs) procurement and
distribution
3. Weak M&E system ( recording & reporting not up to
date). NHIS not able to capture all data in cohorts
