We have more than 5000 EOI for opening of Jan Aushadhi
Stores
We are confident of reaching 3000 Jan Aushadhi stores by the
end of March’ 17

Interventions Required
• Substitution clause in Drug and Cosmetic Act 1940 and Rules.
– Rule 65 (11 A): No Person dispensing a prescription containing substances
specified in {Schedule H and Schedule H1 or X} may supply any other
preparation, whether containing the same substances or not in lieu there of
– DCGI to empower pharmacist to dispense branded medicines to the exact
generic salt match from Jan Aushadhi medicines
• Medical Council of India Code of Medical ethics: 1.5
– Use of Generic names of drugs: “Every physician should, as far as possible,
prescribe drugs with generic names and he/she shall ensure that there is a
rational prescription and use of drugs.”
– Which agency is responsible for enforcing the same?

Revamped Jan Aushadhi scheme is now ready for
relaunch under the new name
“Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojna”
