READING THE ORATECT™ ORAL
FLUID DRUG TEST RESULTS
• The test takes about
five minutes to
develop
• A red line indicates a
negative result for
each drug class
• No line indicates a
presumptive positive
for a drug class
TESTS FOR IMPAIRMENT LEVELS
OF MANY DRUGS OF ABUSE
• Marijuana: tests for THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)
at 40 ng/ml and will be positive for 3 to 6 hours
after the smoking of a marijuana cigarette
• This is the same time frame that the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
states that someone will be under the behavioral
and physiological effects from using marijuana
• Oratect™ will be a presumptive positive after
recent use (impairment) but not previous use (8
hours or more after use)
TESTS FOR IMPAIRMENT LEVELS
OF MANY DRUGS OF ABUSE
• Opioids: from heroin to common pain medicines
• Detects 6-acetylmorphine from heroin
• Detects narcotic pain medicines codeine,
morphine, hydrocodone (Vicodin),
hydromorphone and oxycodone (Oxycontin)
• Illegal use of opioids is the second leading drug
abuse problem in the U.S. after marijuana
TESTS FOR IMPAIRMENT LEVELS
OF MANY DRUGS OF ABUSE
• PCP, Methamphetamine, Cocaine and
Amphetamine also at impairment levels
• Oral fluid (saliva) is produced from blood
by the salivary glands
• Oral fluid drug levels correlate well with
the blood drug levels
• If the drug is in the oral fluid, the drug is
also in the blood and in the brain
