GOALS/OBJECTIVES
 Scale up solution testing. To approach new and larger markets, it is
necessary to test with increased capacity. An initial goal of 6x times
improvement over the in-house DB test environment maximum of 2 million
records was set.
 Collaborate with Oracle to look for potential application optimizations as it
related to better SQL optimizations
 Validate SAS Scoring Accelerator for in-database scoring
SOLUTIONS
 SAS Credit Scoring 6.1
 Oracle Exadata X5-2 Half Rack
 Oracle Database Enterprise Edition 12.1.0.2.0
PARTNER PERSPECTIVE
“SAS Credit Scoring harnesses the power of the Oracle
Exadata and Oracle SuperCluster through our award winning
data management, data mining and reporting capabilities to
quickly develop, validate, deploy and track credit scorecards
all while minimizing model risk and improving governance.
This translates to top-line ROI and bottom-line impact in terms
of lower cost, and agility for our customers .”
- Michael Rosenthal, Global Alliances Manager, SAS
RESULTS
 Oracle Exadata easily handled the 6X load of 12 Million records
 Exadata handled 600% increase in load with only 25%
increase in time over our baseline
 Performance was excellent but key notable is that the Exadata
showed spare capacity which will allow for other workloads to run
simultaneously
 Strong collaboration with Oracle DB and alliance teams to
discover some DB optimizations
 In-database scoring shows excellent improvement
 Early ETL jobs started on DB 12.1.0.2 running on SPARC T7 –
providing prelim results for SuperCluster
