von Feuchtersleben in 1845
• The psychosis became the modern equivalent
of the old notion of madness

disorder, alterations in sensibility, and the
connection with reality, affective disorder and
perception disturbance (hallucinations)
• Disorganized thought and speech
• False beliefs that are not based in reality ,
especially unfounded fear or suspicion
• Hearing, seeing, or feeling things that are not
there (hallucinations)
• Thoughts that "jump" between unrelated
topics (disordered thinking)
• Disturbance in physical movement, reduce of
skills

depending on the characteristics of the patient:
