Counterterrorism activities include:
 Detecting explosives in public spaces and
transportation networks
 Helping protect critical infrastructure and cyber
networks from attack
 Detecting agents of biological warfare
 Building information-sharing partnerships with state
and local law enforcement

investigates illegal
movements across US
borders, including the
smuggling of people,
drugs, cash, and
weapons.

violence in Mexico by adding
manpower and technology .

 In the event of a terrorist attack, natural disaster or
other large-scale emergency, the Department of
Homeland Security provides a coordinated,
comprehensive federal response and mount a swift
and effective recovery effort.

ensuring that emergency response professionals are
prepared for any situation.

responsible for providing immigrationrelated services and benefits such as

Customs laws
