What do you do? The duties of the
job.
 As a Pharmacist our job is to verity patient orders
written by the physician, make sure the drugs
administered are compatible with one another and
check over all the work the pharmacy technicians do.
What kind of decisions do you
make?
 We make sure the best drug/medicine is the correct
one and will work the best.
What percentage of your time is
spent doing what.
 About 70% of are time is verifying med orders and
30% is checking the work of the pharmacy technician.
How did pharmacy interest you
and how did you get started?
 I find it very enjoyable and interesting I always have
found it interesting to know what medicines do what
and how they work.
Did your job experiences have led
you to you present position.
 Just learning what happens to people if the wrong
drug is administered and how it affects people led me
to work in the hospital.
Can you suggest some ways a student
could obtain this necessary experience?
 Shadowing a pharmacist for a day and working in a
pharmacy while in high school/collage really helps.
What do you like and dislike about
working in this industry?
 Personal satisfactions: knowing your helping people
dissatisfaction working in the industry: long hours and
holidays
What other job can you get with
the same background?
 I work at another hospital doing the same thing.
What are the various jobs in this
field or organization?
 Pharmacist; pharmacy director retarl inventory at a
hospital.
Why did you decide to work for
this company?
 Good location & nice people
What do you like most about this
company?
 The people are great here working with nice people
make your job a lot easier.
Do you find your job exciting or
boring?
 Both because you get a rush when you have to get a
STAT Med. To someone and boring because it is very
slow at times.
How does your company different
from its competitors?
 The computer system is a little different.
Why do customers choose this
company?
 In the out patient pharmacy in the Washington
hospital the pharmacist is extremely kind and gives
great detail to patients.
Are you optimistic about the company’s future and
your future with the company?
 Yes, the company functions very well.
What is the best way to enter this
occupation?
 Start applying early it is extremely hard to get into
school.
How did you get where you are and what
are your long range goals?
 A lot of hard work studying long hours and holidays. I
plan to stay with the same company.
What are the skills that are most
important for a position in the field?
 You know what medicine to give right on cue.
What particular skills or talents are most
essential to be effective in your job?
 Being able to catch mistakes.
How would you describe the working atmosphere
and the people with whom you work?
 Sometime crazy and loud, but very entertaining.
What is the average length of time for an
employee to stay in the job you hold?
 As long as they want.
What are the salary ranges for various levels
in this field? Is there a salary ceiling?
 Salary usually starts in the higher thousands and can
easily go into six digits.
