Hydration
Pain- Ketorolac (Toradol), just makes pain
tolerable not free of it
If nausea and vomiting are present, antiemetic
medication
Home treatment- ibuprofen
Tamsulosin (Flomax, a drug used to ease
urination in men with enlargement of the
prostate) help with passage of stones.
Cystoscopy




Cystoscopy- if the stone is in a place
of infection this procedure can be
perfomed
A stent (thin tube) is passed through
the urethra into the ureter to get
around the obstructing stone.
Left in place for a longer time period
Doctor may pull stone out with tool
ESWL

Most common medical treatment
Extracorporeal Shock Wave

Uses shock waves to crack a kidney

Pass through urine or doctor will
need to remove stone
