The Academy needed an official address and a
nice little place in Torrance served this need
well!
AMCP: How Did It Start?
• The first meeting occurred at the ASHP meeting
Nashville – 135 people attended and 50 joined!
• By 1993, the membership grew to 1,288
• Now in 2012, the membership has grown to 6,000
AMCP: How Did It Start?
• In 1996, AMCP activated its first student
pharmacist chapter at the University of Illinois
at Chicago
• Today there are 47 student pharmacist
chapters, and 2,000 student pharmacist
members
