Vocational Nursing
Program
Odessa College Vocational Program is
– A one-year certificate program.
– Offered at the Andrews and Monahans extension
centers.
– Fully accredited by the Board of Nurse Examiners
for state of Texas (BNE).
– New class is admitted each fall semester with
classes beginning in August.

Admission Requirements for LVN program:
– Submit a High School transcript or GED certificate.
– Satisfactory score on the Nurse Entrance Test (NET)
no lower than the 50th percentile on the NET
composite score.
achieve high school level on the grade equivalence
on Overall Composite Math and Composite
Reading.
– Current CPR card.
– Interviewed by program director/faculty.

Requirements following admission
– Authorize a criminal background check
– Liability insurance is required and part of the
college fee schedule
– Submit proof of health and accident insurance
– Obtain physical exam with drug screen
– Submit immunization record, update
immunizations prior to first clinical course

Vocational Nursing
Program
Requirements for graduation include:
– Completed each of the prescribed courses in degree
plan with minimum of a “C”
– Diagnostic testing is required and completed after
each area of content.
– Graduates may participate in a completion
ceremony at end of educational experience

Nursing at OC
OC has been educating nurses since 1961.
The nursing programs are fully accredited.
Nursing tracks: LVN, RN, and LVN to RN.
2007 RN licensure pass rate 88.89%.
2008 Second quarter RN licensure pass rate is
96.97 %
