
A National problem and serious threat in
waiting?
On 18th January 2007 the Home Office,
acting on the advice of the Advisory
Council on the Misuse of Drugs,
reclassified Methamphetamine from Class
B to a Class A drug
Sir Michael Rawlins, Advisory Council
on the Misuse of Drugs: the
‘uncomfortable facts’:

Manufacture is
‘simple’;-it can be
carried out in a
domestic kitchen; it
requires no
sophisticated
equipment; is highly
dangerous through
risk of explosion/fire
and waste is
environmentally toxic.

The precursors
(ephedrine, pseudo
ephedrine, red
phosphorus and
iodine) are readily
available along with
instructions on their
use.
THE EFFECTS on USERS
