WP5 - Capacity building
through acquisition,
development and upgrading
of research equipment
Janusz Sobecki
Objectives
• To raise the utility of the existing
infrastructure in the WrUT laboratories
• To extend the scope of research
conducted in the ENGINE Centre
• To popularize usage and opportunities of
Network Intelligence among enterprises
• To coordinate the strategic ENGINE
research with themes and topics covered
under the European, National and
Regional dimension
WP5 - Capacity building through acquisition, development and upgrading of research equipment
Description of the WP 5
• We plan to upgrade the old and
acquire new laboratories
equipment
• These laboratories correspond to
the main project method, models
and tools
• There are edistinguished five
laboratories
• The total budget is 1 150 000 EUR

Task Leader: Tomasz Kajdanowicz
Budget: 490 000 EUR
This new central laboratory will be integrated (via
efficient network connections) with other laboratories
within and outside ENGINE
The main purpose of this laboratory is to provide
advanced and powerful computing resources for
complex analyses, simulation and modelling research
projects performed in ENGINE, also with cooperation
with other specialized ENGINE laboratories (WT 5.2 – 5.5)
The laboratory will run a wide range of simulation
experiments software already available at WrUT
The laboratory will also have efficient database engines
installed as well as software for data analysis

According to the Polish regulations (Public Procurement
Act), the public procurement procedure has to be
followed if the value of purchase exceeds 14 000 EUR
(there are some plans for raising this sum),
In ENGINE project we will select offers according to the
criterion of the best value for money (best price-quality
ratio), under conditions of transparency and equal
treatment, consistent with Polish law regulations (Public
Procurement Act) and internal WrUT regulations
specified in the document “Rules of the public
procurement procedure at Wrocław University of
Technology” signature ZW 43/2010.
