BENEFITS AND RESULTS
1. Increase the planning coordination and
effectiveness of private and public
sector participants by as much as
50%.
2. Help participants identify at least 25%
more opportunities, improvements,
threats, problems, and solutions 
and do so sooner rather than later.
3. Through better planning, save as much
as 50% of the time action-takers must
spend dealing with implementation
problems.
4. Increase commitment to, enthusiasm for,
and action on economic development
plans by as much as 50%.
Comprehensive and Detailed
Spreadsheet Database
(with Graphs)
Contains time series data regarding:
the economy
agriculture
employment
retail sales
population
housing
education
transportation
crime
various industries
labor force
income and payrolls
sales taxes
vital statistics
healthcare
property taxes
tourism
county expenditures
A combined County/City Database
(county and one major municipality)
is now more than 1.5 Mb in size and
contains 156 preformatted graphs.
The printout, which covers 1970s to
200_ (most recent year data available),
is 118 pages
We also develop maps that compare
a county’s or city’s data with other
counties’ or cities’ data.
Major Uses
of the spreadsheet database
A. Providing data to potential businesses
and developers (both quickly and easily).
B. Providing spreadsheet and graphed data
to county or city sectors  such as:
County’s OEDP Committee, private economic
development groups, Chambers of Commerce,
manufacturers, agribusinesses, retailers,
developers, tourism bureaus, school systems,
healthcare institutions, social services, unions,
banks and S&Ls, and community action groups
C. Identifying and analyzing economic,
business, infrastructural, and social
trends.
D. Presenting graphs (visually indicating
rates of increase or decrease in various
parameters) to show community groups
where things are going and how fast,
and to help mobilize their participation
in economic development programs and
projects.
E. Comparing time series data (graphed
trends) for various parameters -- e.g.,
in order to identify cause and effect
relationships among parameters.
F. Tracking the (trends in) results of
economic development programs and
their benefits over time.
Significant Advantages
over other databases:
A. Having all of a county’s and/or city’s
important data in one spreadsheet -especially in printed out and graphed
forms -- makes it very quick and easy
to look up data and perhaps provide it
to others.
Many users find the spreadsheet format easier to
use than a database format -- especially for
graphing data and manipulating it with formulas.
B. Its orientation is more “economic
development” than “governmental.”
C. For most parameters, it contains time
series data spanning 10, 20, or 30 years.
D. The spreadsheet can be added to,
modified, and updated by any authorized user.
E. Additional graphs (of any other desired
parameters) can be generated easily
(e.g., in order to help identify possible
correlations between parameters).
F. The spreadsheet database printout and
graphs can be distributed to any
authorized individual, group, or entity -subject to certain License provisions.
Analytic/Audit Checklist of
(Economic) Development Factors
(145 pages)
The “factors” are essentialy (a) questions
to ask, (b) things to consider, or (c) “bases
to cover” regarding various economic and
related areas. The checklist includes
quality of life, infrastructural, and financial
factors, which all affect economic development.

List of Possible Statements of LongRange Goals/Objectives, Strategies,
Tactics, and Programs/Projects
(27-Pages)
For all the development areas mentioned above.
Is used for “drag and drop” development of a
Goals and Plans Document
Other Materials and Analytic Aids
A. Our spreadsheet of U.S. data, which is
updated annually. It contains graphs of
data associated with selected major
parameters.
B. A 4' by 8' External Phenomena and
Projected Influences Model, developed
based on extensive files concerning
phenomena and events that relate to
(a) various industries and technologies,
(b) the economy, (c) society, (d) government, etc.
C. A TeamThink Wall (up to or more than
256 square feet). Is an analysis and planning (visual) aid, which usually becomes
completely covered with analyses, goal
statements, and program and project
descriptions.
