 Data for year 2007 suggest, that the EU telecom industry revenue
reached nearly 357 billion Euros, or 2.9% of GDP (LV - 3.6%).
 European operators invested in the development of 14.7% of their
income in year 2007.
 The electronic communications sector growth in year 2007 in Latvia is
confirmed by the fact that the value of the industry by turnover was 730
million Euros and the total investment in the sector were 120 million
Euros.
Initiatives

US – (Feb, 2009) 4.35$ billions for broadband and wireless
network development.

EC – (end of 2008) – till end of 2010 – broadband for all EU
residents.

EC – 5 billions (end of 2008) (Broadband and energy
interconnections) 1.5 billions for broadband in rural areas.

LR Saeima European affairs committee – free access to internet –
one of the key instruments in promoting the competitiveness in
Latvia.
