•
Health expenditure in Finland amounted to EUR 18.5 billion in 2013.
Health expenditure increased in real terms by 1.9 per cent on the
previous year. Per-capita expenditure amounted to EUR 3 395.
•
Health expenditure in relation to GDP increased by 0.1 percentage
points on 2012 and was 9.1 per cent in 2013. Finland had the lowest
level of health expenditure in relation to GDP out of all the Nordic
countries in 2012.

Expenditure on specialised health care (EUR 6.8 billion) and primary
health care (EUR 3.8 billion) together accounted for slightly over half of
the total in 2013. In real terms, specialised health care expenditure
increased by 3.7 per cent. Expenditure on pharmaceuticals and other
medical non-durables increased in real terms by 4.8 per cent.
Expenditure on institutional care for older people continued to decrease.

In 2013, public financing of health expenditure accounted for 75.6 per
cent and private financing for 24.4 per cent. The proportion of public
financing decreased by 0.3 percentage points on 2012.
