TIANJIN and SUSTAINABILITY
The Sino-Singapore Tianjin Ecocity is located 40 km from the
Tianjin city centre and 150 km
from Beijing.
The Sino-Singapore Tianjin Ecocity aims to address the
challenge of sustainable
development. The concept of
man living in harmony with his
fellow man, with the economy
and with the environment is
the foot print of this project.
The achievement of this ideal
will come as a result of:
-Energy Efficiency and Use of
Clean, Renewable Energy
-Green Building
-Green Transportation
- Ecologically Friendly
-Water Management
-Waste Management
-Economic Vibrancy
-Social Harmony
-Heritage Conservation
the MASTER PLAN
The idea behind the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city is to
give a scalable, practicable and replicable model for
sustainable development for other cities in China and
around the world. It was jointly developed by the China
Academy of Urban Planning and Design, the Tianjin
Institute of Urban Planning and Design, and the Singapore
planning team led by the Urban Redevelopment Authority.
In the planning of the Tianjin Eco-city, one of the main
aims was to design a liveable, efficient and compact city,
which would be developed in an ecologically sound and
environmentally sustainable manner.
the SPECIAL FEATURES
The basic building block of the Eco-city Master Plan is a
single cell, or "Eco-Cell", that serves to integrate the
different land uses within a modular 400m by 400m grid.
The ‘sells’ add up to form neighbourhoods, districts, and
the urban areas. Education, commercial areas, and
recreational areas are distributed throughout these
areas. To minimise commuting all these would be
situated close to recreational areas.
The ‘Eco-valley’ runs
through the Eco-city
as a north-south
connector and will
act as the ecological
green spine of the
city. It will be an
important part of the
cities open space
and will create a
better environment.
