Other Countries?

No, We Should Not...
Economically
●low costs on just about everything by not exporting it
--good domestic economy
●exporting the gas will just give money to the gas industries
and cause prices in the US to increase
●Takes a long time for permits and licenses to be approved
No, We Should Not...
No, We Should Not...
No, We Should Not...
Environmentally
●Process for LNG is very long and dirty
●Building export terminals would damage many ecosystems
●Damage coastlines
●Increase carbon emissions
●Exporting will lead to more fracking locations which will
lead to even more of the issues mentioned above
Yes, Let’s Export the Gas...
Economically
●Lower tariffs around the world
●US would make a profit, importing countries would import a
cheap energy source
●GDP by 2020 = ~$20
●Low gas prices right now...not exporting gas could lead to
higher gas prices
●Production will decrease = loss of jobs
Yes, We Should...
●Qatar was a world power in LNG
Exports
●Lots of influence
Yes, Let’s Export the Gas...
Politically
●World leader in natural gas
●Lower tariffs = better relations with other countries
●Lots of influence in the world
●Lower control of other nations--level the playing field
●Re-exporters
So Where Do We Stand?
Actually, We’re Split on the
Subject...
Matt’s Thoughts...
Exporting natural gas could be beneficial.
The exports could help boost our economy.
Could give us the influence we need.
However, this should only be a short-term solution.
We need to be moving towards a greener future.
Adrian’s Opinion...
● We consume an outrageous amount of energy as a nation and
could use the Shale gas as a source for ourselves
○ 5% of the world’s population, but almost ¼ of the world’s energy
○ The average American uses as much as:
○ 2 people from Japan, 13 from China, 370 from Ethiopia
● Despite this, I’m not fully convinced..
Courtney’s Viewpoint...
● We use a lot of gas...why should we give a resource we
need away?
● But...if we have so much that we cannot use it all, then
export what we do not use at the time.
