Don’t use data to look for excuses
Focus on those items that are within your control
Use data to help identify opportunities to change
practice or conditions to improve student
learning
Identify responsibilities for action steps
Remember that all students are yours, not just
those in your classroom.

WINSS
What have we learned?




It all starts with the curriculum (benchmarks)
Purposeful design of data systems and quality data entry
Use the right tool for the right job
Must have SIS that leverages all data and can
store/analyze/report on it
 Must have SIS that can provide standards based grading by
teachers
 Must be able to retrieve data providing staffing if necessary
to support this instructional process
 Technology should be the path, not the roadblock to
instructional improvement!
