Directions to Smedley Park: (Upon reaching
Smedley Park, follow signs to Fall Fest Parking)
• Heading South on Rt. I-476 (Blue Route): Take
exit #3 (Media/Swarthmore). Turn left on
Baltimore Pike. Make the first left onto Paper
Mill Rd.
• Heading North on Rt. I-476 (Blue Route): Take
exit #3 (Media/Swarthmore). Turn right on
Baltimore Pike. Make the first left onto Paper
Mill Rd.
• From Springfield: Proceed South on Baltimore
Pike (towards Media). Paper Mill Road is the
second right after the Springfield Mall.

adjacent to Fall Fest.
Penn State Master Gardeners is an organization of
volunteers who received horticultural training from Penn State
University's College of Agriculture. We educate, inspire, and
encourage the home gardener through a variety of classes,
workshops, projects, and activities. We are passionate about
helping the people of our communities become successful
gardeners.

Master Gardeners’ Fall Fest.
We’ve planned a great day for you!
TAILOR YOUR DAY - We are offering an à la
carte menu where you may register your
choices.
DISPLAY GARDENS - Take a self-guided tour of
our lovely sun, shade, native, and pollinator
gardens designed and maintained by Master
Gardeners.

Workshop A – Garden Tips & Tricks
Nancy Pasquier, Master Gardener – Have you
ever said to yourself “there has to be a better
way?” If so, this is the program for you!
Experienced Master Gardeners will share their
best advice for how to maximize your
enjoyment of the garden while minimizing the
frustrations. Fee $5

Workshop E – 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Workshop C – Landscaping for Pollinators
Brenda Troutman & Betsey Piette, Master
Gardeners – Create a pollinator garden on your
own property. Provide a natural habitat with
plants that attract pollinators and serve as
pollinator hosts. Learn how to have a Penn
State Master Gardener certified “Pollinator
Friendly” garden. All registrants will receive a
free pollinator plant. Fee: $15
Fun & Frolicsome Fall Gardening
Ray Murphy, Master Gardener – Think Fall
Gardening is just picking up leaves? Nah…let’s
plant! Let’s plan! Let’s prepare! What you do
now can make next year’s garden even more
fantastic. Join us for ideas and tasks to improve
and beautify your garden. Fee: $5

Children’s Treasure Hunt (Repeat of Workshop
B) Fee: $5
Workshop D –Leaf Impressions
Alyce Zellers & Veronica Connor, Master
Gardeners – Make a fabric runner you can enjoy
all year with leaves and flowers from your
garden. Bring some of your leaf cuttings and
others will be provided. Create a natural workof-art. Fee: $20

Garden Stakes Mini Birdhouse
Alyce Zellers & Jeanne Quintavalla, Master
Gardeners – Have fun with color combinations
as you paint two miniature wooden birdhouses
& stakes for your garden. You'll need to bring an
apron; we'll supply all other materials. Fee: $10

Workshop B – Children’s Treasure Hunt
Teresa Albers & Cynthia Kravatz, Master
Gardeners – Children will enjoy using their
senses to complete a scavenger hunt through
the various Smedley Park gardens. They will also
use natural objects to create a craft appropriate
to their age level. Children will design and color
their own booklet of local leaves and flowers to
help them identify plants in the gardens. Fee: $5
Workshop F – 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Something Bugging You?
Bring your garden questions – Master Gardeners
will be available to answer home gardener
concerns and will be able to provide information
on the West Nile Virus, stink bugs, and the
Emerald Ash Borer.
