Native people
People who live in the
highlands of Papua
New Guinea are called
Gimi, about 10,000
Gimi live there.
About 20,000 Indians
that live in an area
Brazil are called the
Yanomani.
Animals
There are many endangered species in and amongst
rainforests. Such as the Poison Dart Frog, they are
endangered because people are destroying their homes
and their habitats! The Golden Lion Tamarins is yet
another endangered species trying to live in the rain
forest. But sadly for this little monkey his chances of
survival grow lower and lower everyday.
In another part of
Brazil round about the
size of Wales, live as
kayapo, about 2,500
kayapo live there.
This is just some of the
native people that live
in the rainforest.
Plants
In each 10KM square,
there are 1,500 kinds of
plants and 750 different
types of trees.
In the rainforest there is
a plant called coffee
plant, there is over 6000
coffee plants in a
rainforest.
The cassowary plum
tree can be a tall tree it
has long, large leaves. It
has a very large bright
blue plum that grows on
the cassowary plum.
This is only a few plants
that grow in the
rainforests
These are only a few of the rainforest creatures. There are many, many more animals, plants and native people. You
would have to be a genius to know every spec of detail about the rainforest.
