The Seasons of the Year
In the Spring, fruit trees come out of
dormancy and grow beautiful blossoms on
their branches.
Do you know what the blossoms will
become?
Many baby animals are born in the
Spring time too.
One fun thing to do in the
Spring is to play outside in the
warm weather after being
inside all Winter long.
The blossoms become the fruit on the tree
in the summer time! That’s right, fruit grows
where the tree’s flowers used to be.
Look at all the leaves on this tree in the Summer!
The tree needs the leaves to make and store food
for the tree to last through the cold Winter. This
tree is busy making food for itself!
One fun thing to do in the
Summer is play in the cool
sprinklers since the weather is so
hot!
Yummy fruits have seeds in them
that help new plants to grow. What
comes after summer?
Autumn comes next! Some people
call this season Fall. What has
happened to the leaves on the trees
now?
The leaves change colors because the tree
has stored enough food for the Winter and
does not need the leaves to make any more
food this year. Soon the tree will go into
dormancy, or a slowed growth process due to
cold weather.
When the end of Autumn is near,
the trees begin to lose their colorful
leaves.
One fun thing to do is rake
up the fallen leaves into piles
and jump in them. Give a
thumbs up if you have done
this before.
Now it is Winter time. All of the
leaves have fallen off of the tree.
The tree is in dormancy.
Building a snowman is a
fun thing to do in the
Winter!
Be patient tree, soon it will be Spring time
again and you will make new blossoms on
your branches.
