Elephants
•
Elephants come from far and
wide. We are very lucky to have
elephants to make are world
more interesting.
When The Time Comes
When the time comes the female
and male elephant are very excited
to raise their own elephant. One
word for baby elephant is calf.
When the calf is born the whole
herd of elephants comes up one by
one and to touch the baby’s little
head with there trunk’s. A herd is a
group of elephants that stay
together. When a calf is born it has
some little red hair on top of its
head. The mother can only have one
baby at a time and the female
elephant has six or seven babies in
her life. The calf feeds on its mom
for the first three years of its life.
Growing More
When the baby calf grows a little
more after its first three years of
its life it starts to eat grass and
other plants. By that time they
call the little elephant adolescent.
By the time the little elephant is a
adolescent it will have teeth and
by then it can eat plants and by
then it will know how to use its
trunk to find food.
Look alike
The African forest elephant is a little
smaller than the African elephant.
The African forest elephant also
has a hairy trunk.
The African elephant is a little
bigger than the African forest
elephant. The African elephant
does not have a hairy trunk.
Some of The Species Of
Elephants
The Asian elephant is domesticated.
That means it has been caught by
People for years. Asian elephants are
Also very strong.
The African elephant is mostly found in
East Africa.
The African forest elephant looks a lot
Like the African elephant.
Facts
The Asian elephant is a little like the
African elephant because the Asian
Elephant is very strong and the
African elephant is very big.
The African elephant and the
African forest elephant are hard to
Tell apart.
The African forest elephants are
Very hard to spot in the forest.
I think I like the Asian elephant
The best. Because they are
Very strong.
Food
• Asian, African and African forest
elephants like to eat all of these
things. Plants, leaves, dry grass
and they like to go in lakes and
get water. When elephants are
little they drink their mothers
milk.
Why I picked Elephants
• I wanted to write about elephants
because my mom donated money
to help some elephants. I also
wrote about elephants because
they are such amazing animals in
many ways.
