The Seashore

The World’s Shores
• Two thirds of water is covering the worlds
surface.
• The seashore is made up of a mixture of
crushed rocks, shells and sand. Sand is
lots of tiny grains bunched together to form
most of the seashore. There are many
different sizes of sand grains. They can
have a diameter of 0.0625 millimeters to 2
millimeters.
Shaping the shoreline
• Q: How does the seashore shape it’s shoreline?
A: The shoreline is shaped by waves, waves are
formed by wind. In harsh weather the wind
pushes the cold waters on to the rocks and sand
trying to defeat everything in its path making
changes on the seashore. When the wind is
clam the waves hit everything like slight ripples
making barely any changes on the shore.
Q and A
Plants
• On the seashore and even in the seashore
there are plants that are unlike trees and
the plants that grow on land. The most
common name for the plants are seaweed

grow flowers on them.
Plants
• There are all different types of plants in the
seashore like seaweed. Seaweed can
come in different colors such as green,
brown and even red seaweed.
• Green seaweed comes in different shapes
and characteristics. A characteristic for the
green seaweed is on there leaves they
have air pockets another has teeth shaped
edges on there leaves
Red Seaweed
• Red seaweed is smaller than other
seaweeds and they like shady tide pools
and deeper water. red seaweed contains a
red pigment that keeps out green pigment.
Animal habitats
• Barnacles live on boats, shells, rocks, and
lobsters. A barnacle is an invertebrate
animal which is an animal that does not
have a backbone.
• Sea urchins live on rocks. A sea urchins is
a small circular animal covered in spikes
to protect its self from other animals.
• Starfish live in rocky areas and you will
find also find them on the surface of the
sea and in tide pools.
Animal Habitats
• Tide pool fish live in tide pools which is a
rocky area that is at the edge of an ocean.
• Crabs burow themselves into soft sand
and mud.
• Lobsters live on rocky, sandy or muddy
bottoms of the sea.
Animal Disguises
• Q: how do animals disguise themselves
and what animals disguise themselves?
• A: Sea urchins disguises themselves by
covering up and getting a hold of pebbles,
shells and pieces of seaweed onto there
spikes.
• Crabs disguise themselves by backing up
into rocks that are the same color as them.
•
Q and A
Animal Disguises
• Flat fish are amazing at being in disguise
because they are flat and camouflage so
they can blend in with rocks and broken
shells laying on the sand.
