1. Special traditions
Each nation and each
country has own customs
and traditions. British are
proud of that considerably
differ from any other
nation of the world.
Despite continuous
changes in society, British
people keep a set of
special traditions.
For example, tea with milk
became a national drink of
British.
2. Congratulations on
Christmas
Christmas is the most
important public holiday and
takes place on December
25th.People traditionally send
Christmas cards to their
friends to say Merry
Christmas. Christmas cards
usually have pictures with
Christmas trees, snowmen,
Santa Claus.
3.Christmas decorations
Most people buy Christmas
trees. They put small lights and
decorations on them. People
hang shiny, brightly colored
decorations made of paper
from the ceiling or along the
walls in side their homes. Some
people decorate their front
doors with a wreath, a circle
made of green leaves.
4.Lent
Shrove Tuesday, or pancake day is
day in the UK when people eat
pancakes. It is the last day before
Lent. In the past, Christians ate
only simple food during Lent.
People used up all their milk,
butter, and eggs for pancakes on
Shrove Tuesday because they were
not allowed to eat them during
Lent.
5.Easter
Easter is the day when
Christians celebrate the
resurrection of Christ. People
give each other Easter eggs and
Easter baskets.
At sunrise, on Easter Sunday, in
churches hold concerts of an
organ music and service.
All family gathers for a lunch
this day. The table is decorated
with chocolate nests for eggs.
6.St. Patrick`s Day
St. Patrick`s Day is on
the 17th of March. It is
the national day of
Ireland, that is also
celebrated by Irish
people in the UK.
People wear green
clothes, bye flowers
green, and go to the
pub and drink beer.
7.Weddings
In the UK, people married either
in a church or a registry office.
Traditionally she wears a long
white dress and a veil, and carries
a bouquet of flowers. The bride
and groom and the guests then go
to the reception, which is a special
meal and a party to celebrate the
wedding.
8. The comparison of weddings
between two countries
If to compare British and Russian
weddings we see much
common in a ceremony ,
congratulations and in
a registration.
But in Russia we used to sing,
dance, play funny games with
guests, future relatives , so they
can learn each other closer.
In my opinion our tradition helps
the families to become friends.
Сonclusion
The culture and traditions of Great Britain and Russia
considerably differ. It is caused by a geographical
position of countries, its history and climate. But we
want to learn the past of our countries because
without the past there is no future. The most important
thing is to remember that we all live in one house,
under the name mother Earth!
